This picture was taken on the day "Milk Dreams," premiered at the Empire Theatre in downtown Grand Forks, ND. "Milk Dreams" later went on to represent North Dakota at the Community Theatre Festival in Sioux City, IA in March, 2003 and then on to Rochester, MN in May. On Sept. 29th, "Milk Dreams" was performed by the Hatton Community Theatre in Phoenix, AZ at the Pointe Hilton Hotel as part of the National WIC conference. In October, 2005 "Milk Dreams" will make its east coast debut in Maine. It was a delight to see "Tight, Warm Places" in NYC, as part of the Estrogenius Play Festival, produced by the Manhattan Theatre Source in October, 2004.
On the other script writing front, 2004 began with news that my screenplay "Hotties" was a top ten finalist in the Indeworks contest. "Shrimp Po'boy" has been recognized by the Filmmakers contest, earning a spot in the top twenty. "Shrimp Po'boy" is the story of a little boy who manages to survive his dysfunctional family through a make believe rocket fueled by the power of imagination.
I continue to work with this story of the underdog who makes good, and in 2003 my early efforts to adapt the script into a young adult novel were rewarded with the Emily Award at the University of North Dakota's Children Literature Conference. I was absolutely stunned by this win!

God Allows U-Turns: American Moments is in the bookstores. My essay, "Grace Lake" is about my family's retreat to a lake on Bemidji, MN after the flood of '97 caused our town to evacuate. More, though, it's about the compassion and generosity of strangers who came to our aid.
Thanks to editor Kay Allenbaugh for including two of my essays in Chocolate for the Woman's Soul.
If you want to read about my very "I Love Lucy" adventure in Amsterdam, pick up "My Stinky Cheese Night" in Backpacking Through Europe (Lonely Planet, 2003).
Forthcoming ... "Consumed & Cleansed" in Sacred Water. An essay I wrote about one of the several honeymoon horrors my husband and I experienced will be included in the anthology, Serenade of the Stinkweed.
